Cora Cora Maldives

Cora Cora Maldives in Raa Atoll, has shown continued support for AMC through their sponsorship of the turtles they rescued and brought to our centre for rehabilitation.

This includes our previous Olive Ridley sea turtle patient Hadhiyaa, who was was admitted to AMC in February 2024 and released in November 2024.

It also includes our current Olive Ridley sea turtle patient Cora, who was rescued by Cora Cora in 2022 and was fittingly named after the resort, despite being a male turtle!

Through their kind donations, this sponsorship helped us rehabilitate Hadhiyaa so she could be released back into the ocean, and continues to provide Cora with the best possible care and resources needed.

Cora Cora have also been generous sponsors of Lhaviyani Turtle Festival each year since 2022.

NGO Partnerships

Here at Atoll Marine Conservation Centre, we are proud to be partnered with other NGOs in the Maldives which faciliates knowledge-sharing and helps us work more collaboratively with other stakeholders to achieve shared, common goals.

ORP.png

Olive Ridley Project

Atoll Marine Conservation Centre (AMC) are partnered with the Olive Ridley Project (ORP).

The partnership allows us to share data on sea turtle sightings.  ORP help with photo identification using Internet of Turtles, which is shared with AMC, contributing to both our own, and ORP's databases. We are also able to work together to obtain collaborative research permits.

As part of our partnership, ORP provide training for AMC's Veterinarian surgeon at the begiging of each yearly contract at their marine rescue centre based in Baa Atoll.

Have close collaborations with ORP, allow us to have fast and efficient coordination of turtle patient treatment and transfer.

As AMC and ORP are two of the three turtle rescue and rehabilitation organisations in the Maldives, we believe this partnership is cruicial for sharing our knowledges and streamlining our practices.

Parley for the Oceans

Parley for the Oceans is global envrionmental organisation with a mission to tackle the fast-growing threat of marine plastic pollution. To achieve this, Parley devised a scalable strategy — Parley AIR: Avoid, Intercept, Redesign — with initiatives focused on Education and Communication, Direct Impact, Eco-Innovation, and Research and Development.

Intercepted plastic waste is repurposed and upcycled to create Ocean Plastic®, a range of premium, eco-innovative materials which transform products into symbols of change.

Through collaborative projects and a nationwide program, Parley Maldives brings the Parley for the Oceans global network, AIR strategy, and vision for a blue future to local schools, businesses and communities across Maldivian islands.

Here at AMC, we have a direct partnership with Parley Maldives to collect plastic bottles from the community in Naifaru, that would otherwise go to landfill, get burned, or end up littering beaches and eventually the ocean. Instead, we ship them to Malé where they get processed by Parley Maldives to be recycled and repurposed. Any plastic bottles we collect during beach cleans, are also collected in Parley bags and shipped to Malé to be recyled!

Through this partnership, we help the local school gain Parley AIR points.
